You should not need to open and edit the object itself. It's a setting in the marker's parameter box

<T>We use the section elevation tool for our interior elevations. We use the elevation marker in floor plan so it looks like an interior elevation tag instead of a section marker. Some rooms are very small like toilet rooms and we need 2 arrows instead of just one. Does Archicad have an object we can choose that allows for this. We also want the tag to automatically to put the number in from plotmaker. We would aim the section elevation to the first interior elevation and then put in extra interior elevations that wouldn't show up in plan. THis way the interior elvation on the floor plan would be correct and we would just have one long interior elvation in plotmaker made up of the 2 or 3 or 4 elevations. THe ELEVATION MARKER object looks like it would work but it doesn't in version 9. ANy ideas?

Thanks,
That is a long standing wish! I usually have to put/hide the sect/elev. on a different layer and then put the symbol of what I want it to look like on the floor plan. Unless someone can enlighten me I think that's what we're stuck with at the moment.

We have a custom elevation marker, which is just one arrow that is hotspot-editable to be able to move the marker. One section is placed facing each direction, then the markers are moved to align with each other.

The text in the middle of the arrows finds the drawing and sheet number (4/A4.1), but the letters in the arrows (A, B, C) are set to read the last character of the name of the section, so users are instructed to name their elevations "Kitchen Elevation A."

I also threw in text in a non-plotting pen which shows the section ID number to make them easier to find in Navigator.

Seems to work pretty well so far.

Thanks for sharing this, Tom, and congratulations on your Tip of the Month award for it!

I was swamped when this thread was happening and didn't download your marker then ... and the download count suggests lots of other people didn't either. So, another way to celebrate your award is to for everyone to come back here and get your marker and add it to their libraries. Interior elevations that are live and have a standard marker format. A long term wish granted by your contribution. <E>😉</E>
This is a Windows setting that you apparently changed without realizing it. Normally, when you click on a zip file, you will be presented with a download dialog. There is a checkbox in that dialog that says "Always ask before opening this type of file". The behavior you describe is as if you had at some time (accidentally?) cleared that checkbox.

There is a registry fix to bring it back, but the easiest solution is to RIGHT-click on the download link (instead of left click), and then select the pop-up menu option to "Save Target As" ... then navigate to where you want to save the downloaded file. Unzip from there.
The auto-numbering read the last X characters of your Section Name. If X is 1 (it's a parameter), and your section name is "Kitchen Elevation A", the text in the point will be "A". Then "Kitchen Elevation B" would have "B" in the point.

There is also a "key" value, which is the only one to show the text inside the central box, for Plotmaker. By default, only the "A" marker has the inner text filled in. (It was a user request, I forget why). Of course, you can turn the whole thing off and override the text.

The marker should be in "Elevation" mode (as opposed to "Section"). You place a section cut line in each direction, then use the Pet Palette to move just the markers on top of each other.

If you have a marker on a 45 degree angle, there is a parameter for "Diagonal." I really wanted to automate that, but the Section Plan data is a little random, based on which direction the section line is drawn (left to right, right to left).

The marker also shows the ID number of the Section, which a lot of people liked to help them keep track of their sections. There is a parameter to turn it off if it bugs you.

I'm sure it's not perfect for everyone, but I hope it helps a little somewhere!
