topic Re: Multiple Versions?!? in Libraries & objects

Some reading about this topic:
<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.graphisoft.com/support/archi ... /guid.html">http://www.graphisoft.com/support/archicad/archiguide/guid.html</LINK_TEXT>

To solve this, do something which will cause the GUID (see above article) of either object to change:

1. Select one of the files and open it for editing
2. Do not modify it, just choose Save as... from the File menu and save it under its own name. so it will overwrite itself.
This will result in the GUID being altered by the program.
3. Go to the Library Manager and delete the reference to this file from 'Other Objects' the list of loaded libraries
4. Reload the library

The same thing has happened to 2 of my objects. They have the same numbers like yours do. This whole id number thing works great until something like this happens.

Hello,

I have the same problem with the Multiple Versions. Mine is with a Door Marker I modified and obviously another one that I must have copied and used as a starting point when I made my own.

The one I want to use is the Basic Door Marker which I saved in the ArchiCAD Library 8.1 folder and the Basic Window-Door Marker is the original one from the ArchiCAD.dll library.

I understand what Laszlo is saying and tried that process but can't find any references to either marker in the loaded libraries to delete. I removed the ArchiCAD Library 8.1 and reloaded but still the same error.

The first part of the GUID is the same and the second part is different for the parts in question.

See following images.

I can't get rid of the error and it affects a few files because of plans hotlinked! What should I do?

Hello,

I tried and tried the File - Save As with the same name, then reloading libraries etc, to no avail.

I ended up opening the offending object that I had made, which had the same GUID as the original AC one, and saving as a different name. This now made a new GUID which was good! I then deleted the offending object and renamed the new resaved one as the old name and reloaded the libraries.

All is now sweet!
