It really depends what you're going to be doing with the model?

Do you need CAD/CAM modelling?

... or would (before MarkB jumps in!) Cinema4D be an appropriate solution? (although this isn't much 'simpler' in power than 3ds)

Archiforma / ZoomGDL are probably a bit too 'direct' for your needs.

As Djordje suggested, try the trial version of Rhino.

<T>I know this is a not directly related but...
Can anyone tell me what software i should be using if i want to build 3d models of things like a door handle, or a bottle or other such product design. I'm kinda working with 3Dstudio max but it seems just too complex for my needs.

Thanks
Within ArchiCAD, ArchiForma.

Freestanding, Rhino. Maybe Form Z, although that is also a bit too much.

Try also Zoom/Zoom GDL.

Have you looked at Wings3d <S></S>http://www.wings3d.com/<E></E> and Silo <S></S>http://www.nevercenter.com/<E></E>

Here is a tutorial as well to give you an idea of what the apps are like<S></S>http://www.muranon.com/axel/character/index.shtml<E></E>

and to render the thing I use Stata3d <S></S><LINK_TEXT text="http://www.stratacafe.com/image_relief. ... geID=16323">http://www.stratacafe.com/image_relief.asp?imageID=16323</LINK_TEXT><E></E>
