You can delete all files excluding SO_Renumber.gsm and Master_gdl.gdl
gd& and gs& files are precompiled scripts on the Windows platform. They are created automatically by ArchiCAD.

DATA IO uses by default ArchiCAD root folder (instead of "ArchiCAD Data Folder" for TEXT IO).
You should not put any files into it. Two files will be created by the object automatically.

The note:
I do not know why Chadi writes about Alt+click. As far as I remember, for renumbering elements (after deleting for example) it is required to use Alt+Rebuld.
Besides this object was something like idea to share for GDL developers (One more same object was SO_Animation). Though it was working object, I am not sure in its practical utility.

Interestingly, this object was written by me for a long time ago. I did not think, that it is used by someone.
I have found it on my disk and it seems works on 8.1R2+
I do not know the reason why it does not work for you.
For work of object it is required also master_gdl.gdl which was with it together.
PS:
I am not sure as i use Administrator privileges, but as the object uses DATA IO, may be you should have the OS user privileges on creation and writing of files in ArchiCAD folder.

Oleg,
Thank you for your reply and the information.
If the object does what Chadi says it does
it's utility would be, for example,
automatic consecutive door numbering and
automatic updating of all door numbers when
a door is added or deleted.
I have always wished for something that would
do this but could not figure out how to do it.
Thank you again,
On a simpler level, you can do this with the ID of the object display a number via the command "text2"0,0,glob_ID" and the preference set to show consecutive numbering.

Hello John,
Been there, done that, (as they say).
I have gotten Oleg's library part to work very well for deletes.
It de-increments all the numbers higher than the one deleted
when you use opt/alt + rebuild and regenerate.
I wonder if and how I can get it to work with an addition of a
number in the sequence.
I am forever forgetting to number one or two doors in the plan
and have edit every door number to correct the sequence.
Regards,
Archibaldo, or anyone,
Have you been able to insert a number in the sequence
and then update the values of all numbers greater than
the inserted number as Chadi implied in his post?

What I mean is, In the case of numbering steps,
lets say that you accidently skipped say the third step,
so you go back and insert another number at step 3,
and then update the sequence so that what was step #3
now becomes step #4 and what was step #4 now becomes
step #5 etc.
Is there a way of doing this?
I haven't been able to make it work.
Thanks,
my object gdl code " know " only to add 1 to precedent value. It is only a relation to precedent
click. But you can write an similar object based on archicad auto id numbering and with the "Element Id manager"(in "Calculate" menu) to renumbering again after modifications. The object 2d value must be linked to Object ID (and archicad can easy manage auto id numbering)
