To link paper to pdf file into a cloud storage, I guess... A great idea but I do not think it a GS project !

I was wondering if there was any QR-code library object available anywhere in Archicad? Or any way of creating QR-codes directly in Archicad.

Or how do you guys use them? Do you just create a QR-code on some online generator and paste it as an image/placed drawing?

Hello mbl,

I do not understand what you want to do with a QR code into Archicad but I invite you to create it by this kind of link : https://www.unitag.io/fr/qrcode

Them you are able to input your qrcode like a surface into your Archicad model.

Can you explain what's exactly your aim ?

Hi Christophe,

Thank you, I know it's possible to use some sort of QR-code generator from the internet, but I was wondering if there was any possibility to generate them directly in Archicad. And a library object would sound most logical to me.

I know QR-codes are quite complex, but I was hoping some gdl-guru or someone in Graphisoft had too much time on his/hers hands and already made one...

Having it generated directly in Archicad would eliminate an extra step with an external image file and would be much easier to edit if needed.

I was thinking of starting using QR-codes on our printed drawings for URL-links, but I am trying to figure out an easy and "dumb proof" workflow.
Not via GDL that I know of, but it might be possible to do with an add-on that can link to an external generator.
I don't know for sure as I have never gotten into the add-on (developer) side of things.

I use QR-codes for our various company websites and have them saved a JPG images in our loaded library.
I can then "CALL" these images into our drawing title block object based on the company we are drawing for.

I too have the need for this, but don't expect it would ever be a part of AC. More so a plugin.

I want to drop a plan specific QR in the title block based on the Job ID, but I want to do this in the template and auto generate so the employees dont mess it up.

The QR link would be dynamic, able to direct clients or employees to specific data.

I actually just though of a way while I was typing this..

You could use grasshopper to build a QR from lunchbox using a plugin (such as QR Code Generator | Food4Rhino - I haven't tested) somehow convert to AC fills and push ArchiCAD which is stored in a layout.

Just thinking out aloud...
I would want to do this before starting the job using RPA on a free pc so it was done before the employees get to it and I don't need all staff to have a Rhino license.

End of day, an ArchiCAD plugin would be the best option, able to source a link from Project Info as I auto generate an .XML file with the Job info and Job ID included then import it when I start the job.

Sorry I keep forgetting not everyone has Rhino and besides if you were able to use RPA, then you could just generate from Python or a web service, open AC and drop in as an image.. Sorry to lead you off the beaten path. I actually wonder if I could build one just using ArchiCAD's APIs...

Hi Guys.
Python Pallete might be a solution.
I am developing a Keynote that reads structure's components and is able to read thier Bmat IDs. As an option it will be able to display QR codes (loaded to current library). QR codes are generated by python script that uses tAPIr command (reads IDs of every Building Material in a project).
Would You find it usefull?
Video

Just a thought guys, now PDFs can be relatively linked, you could publish the QR as a PDF to a project directory and it should auto update.
