Hi Guys,

I am an architect currently on revit. My workflow includes a strong focus on custom detailing/design to doors and windows.

I would love to move to archicad so I can work on apple silicon. That is definitely one of revit's downfalls (there are several).

In downloading a trial of archicad I was knocked sideways to see there seems to be extremely limited functionality in terms of modelling or creating custom doors that include pivot doors, custom doors jambs, doors with no head jambs, shadowline reveals to door jambs, centred doors, jambless doors etc. I regularly use in-floor pivots and concealed hinges as well as doors with no head jamb, jambs that may be 10mm steel blades etc.

I am very much hoping I can achieve these details within the archicad environment. I've scoured the web and seemingly come up empty on this front.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. Thanks 👍Very keen to move to archicad if I can.

I haven’t really used it much, just messed around, but there is a Library Part Maker add-on you can install which allows you to build any custom object of many types including doors so you should be able to build the door style you want out of the standard wall, slab, beam, column, morph tools and then save that out as a door object.

Hi Lee,

Thanks so much. I am now across the basics of the library part maker and can also see param-o seems nice too. Now looking for some good tutorial content on parametric custom doors and windows (ala embedded objects) but a lot of the content seems to focus on furniture elements.

I would have thought there would be some type of marketplace for the sharing of custom parametric objects but I am yet to come across anything like this. I imagine architectural offices are more inclined to protect their custom door and window families.
