Hello! I have been working on a cabinet favorite for our office template for Archicad 27. I would like to create a base cabinet that has double doors in segment 1 with a drawer above each door in segment 2. Past cabinet objects let me choose 2 drawers, but I can't seem to find where I can change from 1 to 2 under segment details, segment 2. The 1 is grayed out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi!

I have checked - so the way I see it, Archicad understands segment as a horizontal separation. As such, the top drawer would be split horizontally. For illustration purposes, a open type segment with 2 inner segments. A closed drawer would not be split horizontally, and that's why the option is missing

A possible workaround to achieve your desired result would be to use a double door on segment 2 (which would represent the drawers in elevation view).

I

If you were to section this, you wouldn't see them as drawers though, and if this would be a deal-breaker, maybe having two identical 1/2 sized cabinets would be the way to go (as in, instead of one wide one, make it out of 2 halves).

It seems you can't have double drawers width wise with these objects.

It seems older versions you could.

Who ever updated these objects obviously did not consult with the users that use them.

Hopefully improvements are on the way.

You will just have to create a favourite for a single door cabinet with drawer above.

The problem then is, you will have an end panel between the cabinets, which I don't think you can turn off either.

If you don't like that you will have to place a short height cabinet and separate drawers above them.

Thanks for replying. I will try your workaround. I'm must concerned about getting the look I want for the Interior elevations. I can work with a section through the cabinet. Thank you and I hope they bring back number of drawers as a choice.

Thank you, Barry. I hope they do bring back the no. of drawers option. I could still use an older object, but I'm trying to use as many of the AC27 objects as possible. I have heard that newer versions will be dropping the version number from the object name, so I'm trying to keep up. I did find an option that works for me and our interior elevations. If I navigate to Front Panels, choose Segment 2 to edit, and then choose vertical frames, it does give me the look I want for our interior elevations.

I have to set the frame width as just under 1/2 the size of the cabinet. This creates a vertical line dividing the drawers.

Thanks again for your help!
