I'm having trouble opening my migrated projects in the 3d window. I get a never ending series of error messages:

"pen number is less than 1 or greater than 255 at line ________ in the 3d script of file _________.gsm"

this happens if i load the new 10 library or if I load the 9Special Edition library which is what I used for the projects when in AC9. No problem with plain 9 library or 8 library.

Any ideas?
Thanks for your help!

Thanks Matthew,
Most of my objects (especially doors and windows) are SE9 library. I would have to remap every one to 9 or 8 library if I were to use just one of those libraries. And I would have to do this to 5 different projects... might as well just stick with AC9.

Is there a better way?

The error messages are off... but do the objects actually appear? Often that error will make objects not show up.

Usually it's just a pen error and can be fixed by a simple Find & Select, then change the offending pen.

This isn't precisely helpful (Tom has covered that), but I just want to comment.

Assuming you didn't have this error in 9. Correct me as needed, but I think the only way that error could happen is if the old object is based on a new version of the object template, which has a new pen parameter, which is defaulting to zero.

If so, GS needs to 1) Issue a 10-template-friendly version of the 9 library, and/or 2) Make sure templates don't have pens defaulting to zero, unless they're for backgrounds.

Also, NT, you have to watch that parameter for any new instances of the object too.

Finally, keep yer report on. Would you rather not know you have errors, or know you don't have errors? IMO.

I am getting this error too when trying to apply the Wall Framing object to Composites in Composite Structures in Elements Attributes.

This is to use CADimageTools Wall Framing Addon. I am using AC10, with no legacy libraries and the latest version of the CADimageTools Wall Framing Addon library.

I am getting a heap of problems with this tool. Please help.

guys check the library forum I just posted there with a little more info about error messages like this. short story is - in at least one instance an error like this is related to composite wall structures interacting badly with door parts and actually has nothing to do with pen sets.
