And why can't we use % fills for vector hatching! This would be very effective in interior elevations for showing thru shower enclosures and the like..

<T>can someone help please...
in elevations/sections I can see through doors and windows to the inside of the building. how do I change this so it will be permanent and will stay opaque on views and layouts as well?
I'm working with the 10th version</T>

shiml:

For ArchiCAD 10, go to the 3D Window Settings > Effects > Transparency in Shading and set it to Off. This attribute was moved to the Section/elevation settings in later versions.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
thank you, but the problem is that when i move to another saved view, the settings change back to "on". and it affects the layout as well

You need to redefine all views with the incorrect transparency setting as David notes.

What is the magic trigger that makes a material be TRANSPARENT for elevations and sections? I have a few different glass materials and some show thru and some don't..

As I recall, Duane, it is related to the % transparency set for the material. Cannot remember ... but I think 50% transparency and above might be the range that shows as transparent in elevation? Experimentation might be faster than a search. <E>😉</E>

Found the reference in James Murray's outstanding onland.info site (he really should write a book!):

<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.onland.info/archives/2008/07 ... bility.php">http://www.onland.info/archives/2008/07/transparency_and_invisibility.php</LINK_TEXT>

There, he says 51% and above gives transparency in section/elevation...

HTH,
Bottom line is... MVO's matter!

If creating elevations as DRAWINGS, it will matter AT THE TIME OF GENERATION... MVO's set with overriding fills and background fill manipulation will affect how transparent items render...
