<T>I want my door and window marker to show the size of the door or window in all inches.

To my knowledge, there is no way to do this, correct?

hoping someone can surprise me...I know I could use the FM Parameters and put the dimension in manually but I really don't like to do anything that underminds the automation and forces me to remember to do things manually.
Thanks</T>

Go to File > GDL Objects > Open Object by Subtype... then Drawing Symbol > Marker > Window-Door Marker and you will see this list of the currently loaded markers (both built-in and in the loaded libraries), choose the part you want to alter and click Open. Save As... a copy of this part for editing.

The formatting of the text for dimensions is handled with the Str (String Function), check the GDL Reference Guide for an explanation and examples.
What version are you in? I tried to do this on my MAC (I Just purchased one and I'm lost on how to workwith it) on version 11 and I can't find any individual objects in the place you told me to go.

It almost looks like version 11 has packaged everything into a single file and I cannot isolate individual objects.

I just put two bullets in my brain trying to convert from pc to mac and version 9 to 11 at the same time.

I don't know if Open Object by Subtype is on that menu by default. It wasn't on mine, but I may have modified it. But I don't see it the Standard Commands WE scheme either. You might have to add it in the Work Environment.

The 11 library is all one file, a library container file, LCF. The other way of getting to individual markers would be to extract the LCF, which copies it to regular folders. You should find the Extract a Container command on the File -> Libraries and Objects Menu.

vincon2:

Following your signature, I based my reply on ArchiCAD 9, as James said, you may need to add the "Open Object by Subtype... " command to your Work Environment. This will give you access to all the library parts, some of them, like the Basic Door-Window Marker, are built into the application, so won't show up in an extracted .lcf file.
