No, but you can use the Label Tool to associate a marker in S/E (I also think there's a Wish List item for this option) -- search the Forum, it's been discussed.

I did search, as I always do.

However, I decided to ask the question again as other people may or may not have seen previous disussions on this topic and may have a different point of view or work around.

It is kinda PITA, but it can be done.

1. Give your window a uniqe ID and check the "Label Elements" box
2. Go to the Elevation where the window is, be sure the "Label Elements box is still checked for that window. You should see a Label arrow close to the window.
3. Select that label, go to its settings. Change the box from text to "Label Window Marker 10"
4. Change whatever setting you need to in order to make it look right.

* be sure to check "Use symbols arrow" to get rid of the stupid default arrow.
Also, be aware that labels can be set on any layer and may not show up when you check the "Label Eelments" box if the label tool is currently set to a hidden layer. If this happens find the layer and turn it on so you can see the label.
IMHO that is the strength of labels.

Before selecting any door/window, double click on the label tool, select both doors and windows and set your parameters, layer and choice of label there. Next time you select "label ID" your label will pop up without lots of setup.

This is the procedure I use to apply Labels.

This has been a terrific link and has helped me out a lot. Many Thanks to you all!!!

However, after following all the steps carefully, everything was coming out really nicely, until....

My markers (door/window id's) in Elevation views are acting strangely. At first, markers placed on an invisible, turned off layer were being copied over onto visible layers.

I then deleted all the id's from each Elevation, went through the entire process again of labeling and placing labels on dedicated layers, rebooted, and this time the markers on the visible layer of my Elevation are being multiplied (4 times!!) and stacked on top of one another.

It's as though the doors/windows are creating another label each time I open the view. Do you need to turn off the "Label Window" option after it has created the label?

Sorry for the mouthfull.

I'm using AC11, build 1040. I need to download the recent update, which perhaps will solve this. I don't have multiple windows in the walls.

I do, however, have an "existing wall" and "wall to remove" and "new construction wall" co-existing, on dedicated layers with differing layer intersection priorities (it's a remodel project, and I've happily kept layer organization very clean).

I also generate two Elevation views (existing and proposed elevations) from the same Elevation marker, by way of different layer combinations.

Maybe these complexities are confusing the label tool (in it's door/window subset labeling function).

However, Nathan Brauer also is experiencing pesky malfuntions with door/window labelling, and has come up with a cumbersome workaround. <LINK_TEXT text="http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/vie ... highlight=">http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=18764&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=</LINK_TEXT>
