BUG door+window schedules ?

if i have a vertical and an horizontal door schedules showing 'preview pictures' and i want to make them all horizontal or vertical, i could get the attributes from one and pass it to the other, schedule format will take the attributes but the 'preview picture' will remain same position (off the schedule) ?? attached pictures..(learning how to attach pics)

It is not so much a bug IMHO, but simply the way in which placed schedules operate. While the schedule itself is a GDL object, it is not intended that we should be able to alt-click on one and ctrl-alt-click the settings to another. The GDL object does not contain the schedule settings - particularly the placement of the images, as you've seen. The schedule block is grouped with the images, and you must select all of it (grouped) and reformat using the I.S. itself.

Just open I.S., edit settings, and change from column to row.

Unfortunatley, if you want the fonts/spacing/etc to match, that isn't an option. You'll have to set the other schedule to match. Parameter transfer will APPEAR to transfer font sizes, but when you open the schedule settings, you'll see that the settings themselves retain their original values.

If parameter transfer 'worked', then the schedules would be identical, and that wouldn't help at all! I suppose a good wish would be for just formatting to be transferred.

You know also, of course, that you must not suspend groups when doing an update. Grouping must be enabled so that when you select any part of the schedule, all parts - the text block (GDL object) and the linework/images are all selected, and so then all will be updated. Without doing this, duplicate linework/images will result.

I'm going to slightly change the subject - I have been exploring door & window schedules in Calculate>Interactive Schedules>Basic Window Schedules etc.... I'd like to include an elevation of the windows in the schedule and have been successful, mostly. For some reason, however, when I include the Field "3D Front View", the spacing between rows gets a lot tighter resulting in a tiny elevation. If I take that field out, the spacing seems to follow what I've set up in the Format area of the schedule settings. What am I missing?

Never mind! I figured it out - the "picture" option under the format tab allows adjustment of the row height. Glad I could help.

I just tried importing my custom window schedule from 8.1 to 9.0 and an important feature I used is no longer an option.

I need to have glazing area (WxH=s.f. of glass) on my window schedule. Here in California, this is critical information for compliance with our energy conservation requirements.

In 8.1, you could select Glazing Surface from the list of window parameters. This is gone in 9.0. I have tried including Surface from the general parameters list but I don't know where this number comes from because it sure doesn't equal WxH=s.f. of glass.

Any insight?

Interesting issue. Here's what I see in studying 8.1 vs 9.0: Yes, the "Glazing Surface" fields (three of them) are gone in 9.0, and so that aspect of your schedules will have to be modified. (Who knows why GS changed this without announcing it though.)

However, those fields were not accurate before anyway. For example, with a W1 Casement object, the glazing surface is the window WxH regardless of the actual amount of glass. That's probably what you need for heat calcs, but it doesn't help any light calcs.

In 9.0, the same value (sf of WxH) is the "W/D opening nominal surface", or "Nominal W/D opening surface on the reveal side", etc. All have the same value, so I'm not sure why there are 3 fields with the same value if the computation is just gross opening area.

In 9.0, if you click on Additional Parameters, and browse for your window object, you'll find extra parameters for "Glazing Surface" and "Glazing Surface in Sqfeet". These, unfortunately (!!) are not computed by the window object. Here's another glitch with them: you can see and modify these fields in the window settings dialog, under the "ArchiFM & Listing Parameters" group ... yet, even though you can enter numbers there, the fields are locked from data entry in the I.S. preview. That seems like a bug.

Seems that windows/doors need a little more intelligence?

D'oh! I should have been able to figure that one out. I'm not going to complain too much about the semantic issues and lack of documentation because ArchiCAD is so much better than that other program I used to use.

I did, however, find another bug that caused me two hours of frustration as I tweaked my new schedule. On the Format tab, within the Schedule Settings, the text size is not Pt. like it is listed! Best I can figure it is mm.
