<T>I've been using the dimension markers to show the Element ID's of doors and windows on plans, and loving it for the most part.

The only problem I seem to be having is that when I match a window with the eyedropper, it does not pick up the Element ID with it.

I had several windows with erroneous ID labels before I realized it.

Is there a setting somewhere that is preventing this? Or do I just have to remember to always change this?</T>

Try unchecking "Auto ID increase" in "Options\Preferences\Miscellaneous". This will keep AC from automatically increasing the ID# every time you place an element.

FYI - The Eyedropper actually ignores the ID# when transferring properties to pre-placed elements.

David, do you know why this might be? If you are transferring properties, it should be obvious that one would wish to transfer the ID# as well...or am I missing something...I can't think of any reason why you would not want to transfer the ID# as well...

I smell a wish...

This is one of those "features" that I've never liked.

I guess the reasoning is that GS expects you to assign an independent ID for every element.

This is one of those reasons we've been asking for more control of the eyedropper selection and transfer - kind of like a modified "Find & Select".

It would be better to have a non-modal settings dialog/palette (like SEOs and the camera tool) so you could select the specific attributes to be transfered.

I have always wanted to be able to transfer settings between objects without changing the angle. Lacking this ability has made the option/command-option clicking practically useless for transfering settings between library parts. I have never had a building in which the toilets all faced the same direction.

I guess I'm off to the wish list to add this one.
