Gabriel,

Thanks for the update, after some testing I found you can remap the missing default classifications using the Subtype – Classification Mapping menu.

Go to Window > Toolbars > Edit GDL Library Parts in the menu bar.

On the toolbar that appears, click the dropdown button on the far left and select Subtype – Classification Mapping.

A window will open where you can manually add the missing classifications.

To help with this, I’ve taken a screenshot of the current mappings used in the USA template. You can use it as a reference to match the default setup.

Hi everyone,

After migrating our custom template to Archicad 28, I noticed that the Object Tool and Object Library seem to have lost all the default classifications that usually come out of the box (ARCHICAD Classification - v 2.0). When I go to place a standard object, the Classification and Properties panel is shows ARCHICAD Classification - v 2.0 unchecked and "Unclassified".

I’ve tried importing the default classification system via the Classification Manager, but that didn’t fix it — the object tool still doesn’t apply any default classifications, and the library objects remain unclassified.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Is it fixable, or am I looking at having to rebuild our template from scratch?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

**Edit: After reviewing the Library Documentation PDF, I found that page 9 clarifies that Library Localization Preferences do not affect the Classification & Properties panel. This means the original suggestion below about applying localization preferences won’t resolve classification issues and can be disregarded.

Based on your screenshot, I see that you have the Door & Window USA.libpack loaded, so I’ll assume you're working in the United States.

If thats the case, <STRIKE>I recommend applying the Library Localization Preferences for "USA – English (United States)" </STRIKE>to see if that resolves the issue. If you're not located in the US, <STRIKE>apply the localization preferences for your specific region instead.</STRIKE>

You can follow the steps in the guide below to modify the Library Localization Preferences:
How to change language and folder structure

Additionally, this guide may be helpful if you have other questions about the AC28 migration process:
Archicad 28 Migration Guide - Workflow Guide

Hi Jan, thanks for the reply. I am in the US. I applied the localization as you recommended and no change. The objects still do not show the default classifications.

The one scenario I imagine can cause this is if you delete the Archicad Classification 2.0 in the Classification Manager. That will cause Classification-related data and settings to be removed from Properties, placed Elements, Tool default settings, Favorites, IFC Type Mapping, etc. Even if you reimport the same Classification from a XML file into your Project, all those settings are already lost and they need to be recreated, as far as I can see.
