door opening line

Hello,

I would like to solve the problem of changing the color of the door opening line. I would like to highlight only fire doors in red.

In AC28, I cannot find the option to individually change the color of the door opening line in the door library element. Is it possible that GS removed this option from AC28, which was available in previous versions, and that the door opening line can only be changed globally?

I can solve it with GO, but it does not give the correct result, because it also changes the color of the wall behind the frame, but GO does not change the color of the door's consignment sign...

On the left is the normal door, on the right is the fire door, where it would be good if the opening line was also red for better understanding of the plan...

Door/Window opening line colours are controlled in the Model View Options in 28.

I know that the door opening line can be set GLOBALLY here in MVO.

I need a solution that allows me to modify this per door.

In AC26, there was definitely an option for this in the door settings!

Why did GS take this option away from us?

Did they need the letter to be different in the code 😁 ? For what?

I am not sure if the setting was there or not as I don't use the Graphisoft doors.

I believe that it was.

I just checked in 28 and I definitely can't see it now.

As I have mentioned to Graphisoft many times during testing, any object option that is in the MVO, needs to have an override option in the object itself.

We need to be able to choose if we want to use the MVO setting, or the individual setting in the object.

It was still there in A26, I checked.
Can I ask what kind of doors you use?

My own.

That way I get them to do what I want.

I learnt to script in GDL.

My doors are much simpler than the Graphisoft ones though.

But unfortunately they can't be shared.

There are other 3rd party libraries out there, but they will cost you.

And still may not have all the features you want.

Wasn't there was talk of reintroducing all of the old MVO options back early during AC28, though it does not seem to have happened in either of the library updates, fully at least...

Graphisoft keep saying it is not necessary - although I believe they are adding back some options.

If you aren't using the MVO options, then you can't have different options for different plans.

So in this case, if you override the fire doors in the object to be red, they will always be red in every plan.

This might be what you want, but it might not be.

That is fine, just give the user the choice.

They can decide if it is usable or not.

There will never be a perfect solution.

Graphic Overrides that override only parts of an element (or object settings) would be close though.

Sorry, I should clarify.

They will always be red if you are using that particular MVO set.

You can of course use different MVO sets for each view, but this means duplicating entire MVO sets just to change one option.

So if your MVO sets the door swings to red, all doors will be red while that MVO is being used.

Graphic Overrides have the problem that the entire door and frame will be changed.

Pen sets will work also, but will be the same as using MVOs.

So long as you have a dedicated pen for the door swing colour.

Then you can have multiple pen sets that change that particular pen colour as you want.

But again all door swings will be that colour while the pen set is active, because all doors use the same swing pen set in the MVO.

We simply need to be able to set the colour in the object itself with the option to override using the MVO settings if we want to.

If Gabor sets the opening line of fire doors to a specific pen AND organize the pen sets with this specific pen in red (or not), the doors will have a red opening line (or not).

And yes, this is a crappy "Double Source of Truth" workaround...

I don't use those doors enough!

The door leaf pen you can control in the object itself.

The door swing pen is only in the MVO.

So you the pen set could be an option.

At least our german doors allow to override the MVO for "symbolic 2D".

And yeah, its a "Triple Source of Truth" 😂

Uhmmm - no.

GS crippled this functionality with the LibPack system. But maybe reverting to monolithic libs is an option?

Type-based control is a MUST. MVO rulez! 😍

Instance-based override is a MUST. "Modelldarstellung überschreiben" rulez! 😍

GS is... ...kz! 😐

We (>100 seats) skipped 28. For I'm in the process of preparing the 29 template, I'm grateful that this thread confirms stickin' with the monolithic lib.
