Yesterday, I was trying to send a quick RFI to an architect. I needed to show a simple W shaped column on the drawing; something I’ve done a million times in Archicad.

Using AC29, I opened objects > 05 Metals and instead of finding “05 10 00 Structural Metal framing 27” > then “Steel Columns”, the “W column 27”, I unfortunately found “05 50 00 Metal fabrications” > then “Steel Columns EN”, then a bunch of metric shapes.

Where did the simple to use, steel shapes that are in English (non metric) units go?

Operating system used: Windows 11 25H2

Is there a US Steel libpack somewhere maybe? OR you could export the entire AC27 US steel library and import that seperately.

Graphisoft removed them from the default libraries. Not sure why, since there is no replacement for the functionality that they provided.

Grrrr. 😡

They were still available in 28 installs, located in an .lcf called Archicad Legacy Objects USA.lcf.

If you have 28 installed you can link that library into your file.

Can you use complex profiles? I still see an international assortment of steel shapes in metric and imperial

Having the same issue! The Archicad Legacy Objects USA.lcf is the 2D detail symbol, NOT the 3D W object (see screenshot of what is missing). Double checked the Archicad USA Template 2, does not have this object. This is a very used object for our structural coordination, way faster than complex profiles, better selection nodes and easily managed (imho).

The only solution I have found is to export the objects from 27 and import them into our embedded library 😕 which means we're just carrying around outdated objects which seems to negate this whole transfer to a global library!!! How can we get the legacy library update to include these disappearing objects OR come out in a library update??
