Light Fixtures - Replacing the default 3d model of the fixture with a custom object

Hello all!

I was curious if anyone had any insight on what I am trying to achieve. Like the title says, I want to essentially take the default lamp (in this example, wall sconce) and replace the 3d object with a custom object.

Or alternatively, create a new sconce and change the 2d symbol so it shows the electrical symbol, instead of the 2d plan view of the object.

I imported an RFA of a light fixture that I want to use but I do not know how to change the floor plan view to show the standard sconce symbol. I also want this to be able properly show the electrical legend.

I have tried editing the code but no success. If its a lengthy process for each new custom fixture, it may not be worth the time, but wanted to explore to see if it is a possibility

I gave up on scripting fixtures as lamps a long time ago. And the out of the box light fixtures are... well... unusable.

Library part maker is a great tool, if you have the patience and time to put into it. It is not parametric (resizeable), but does give you a connection to model view options, which is great.

I just model or script the 3d geometry and use a template for a 2d symbol I want. sometimes I'll have a value parameter to switch from symbolic to projected, but it's set, not tied to view settings/model view options.
