also, this further reinforces the need to develop a batch update solution for bimcloud libraries... it's horribly tedious to run the library updates on a bimcloud 1 at a time.
I know some have suggested deleting all .libpacks from the server and reloading the updated ones as a work-around. But I've seen that result in all local data showing all .libpacks missing... and fielding 100 questions on how to relink libraries whenever I update is just not an option either.

what does this even mean? these .libpacks seem to have only simplified archicad for one group of people... and its not us at the end user side.

Well, only the "normal" object library is backwards and forwards compatible – the MEP library on the other side is always tied to the version, and will probably stay like that for a while.

So my guess is there is a version mismatch here between AC and the library.

very strange... these are all libraries uploaded from the AC29 applications folder; nothing from 28 is on that server

I'm like 90% certain the whole reason to switch from .lcf to .libpack was less work on the software developers side... on the user side, it takes a software developers understanding of the tool to get a file's libraries sorted out any more.
I mean, take 1 library + a migration library and turn it into 40 separate libraries that all still need to speak to each other in some capacity (macros, etc.), and need to be coordinated for updates individually... yeah, this wasn't for the benefit of anyone on the user end of things.

Clarification: they are AC version "backwards compatible", but not Library version backwards compatible.

*Apparently some of the objects added with the library update post AC29 are not compatible in AC28... It was mentioned in the library update release post. I have not used or checked any of them.

Yeah, I do not get why AC cannot just read a folder of Libpacks. Sure, libpacks give the user more flexibility, but most do not need it... Just give the user a folder of their localised libraries that they can add to if they need to.

eg. I just load "Library (AUS)" folder and I get all of the generic and AUS library parts. If I want the "Japanese Arhcitecture" library, I just copy it from "Other Libraries" folder into "Library (AUS) folder.

I'm going to need someone to explain to me how to fix this... like explain it step by step... and if it involves any back door rewriting of the libraries or checking compatibility of .libpacks, I'm going to need someone at graphisoft to resolve this at a software level... this just can't be a better option than version specific libraries.
I've yet to see anything better or easier for the end user with these .libpacks...

Just a wild guess about where to start:

There are commands for extracting and creating lib packs.

So, you could extract the lib pack, and check the extracted files. There is a file called "package.info". If you open it, it is an XML file, and it has some "subversion" data in it. You could try to change it to a number that a working lib pack has. Then recreate the lib pack and see if that solves the issue.

Otherwise, if it does not, you may have to reinstall Archicad.

Laszlo, this is exactly what I meant. the step by step is just not a feasible or reasonable solution for 99% of the people I work with, and not a solution I want to take ownership of.

If I understand you, I have to extract a .libpack, that is 100% out of the box installed from the downloaded .dmg install files, it has been updated in my applications via the library updates, and updated on the bimcloud (which is a painstaking process now that we have 37 different libraries to check for up-to-date-ness), and I still need to extract the libraries to verify that graphisoft has not released some .xml data that is not compatible, and EDIT the .xml data; not only do I feel like I'm outside my wheel house, but I feel like I'm doing graphisoft's job for them.

furthermore, I fail to understand why I would need to reinstall archicad; these computers aren't reading the .libpacks from the application folders, they are sync'ing local to server data. If the .libpack is up to date on the bimcloud, how could it possibly be incompatible?
...
I'll admit, I'm not always the sharpest tool in the shed; but from what you are describing here, this falls in to the "not my job" category. Definitely not in the role of an average architect, drafter, or designer's role in a firm.
...
coincidentally, as I read your response, I was on a zoom call with another architect who saw about 10-15 libraries in their library manager reporting "not compatible"

I don't even know if this would work, I just wrote it because I recently extracted lib packs and noticed this.

I also supposed that you have a single lib pack that is misbehaving, so I thought you could try this and it may solve it quickly.

But I agree, this is not feasible if many libpacks have this issue.

I can only recommend contacting support about it.

I still don't understand how this could happen on BIMcloud though. If I update my libraries on this computer, then run the library update for all 4 dozen (+/-) .libpacks on each bimcloud, the server's libraries are updated. Everyone in the projects should get updated local data when the join the file or send receive. How could their local data by outdated, if the local data is based on the server data?
do we really need to coordinate everyone to leave every project and clear all local data with every library update? I understand most people aren't working with 150+ people on a weekly basis; but I'll have to hire a nearly full time library maintenance manager if this is REALLY the way it works.

also, this further reinforces the need to develop a batch update solution for bimcloud libraries... it's horribly tedious to run the library updates on a bimcloud 1 at a time.
I know some have suggested deleting all .libpacks from the server and reloading the updated ones as a work-around. But I've seen that result in all local data showing all .libpacks missing... and fielding 100 questions on how to relink libraries whenever I update is just not an option either.
