I can't really recommend for a British firm, as the Dutch building styles / market is quite a bit different. We don't have any paid 3rd party libraries, but we do use a few of the things available on sites like bimcomponents (graphisoft depositort of objects) and bimobjects.com.

For your specific example:

The standard library should offer a good solution for sliding windows, as long as they're symmetrical, which I think is mostly the case in Britain. If you want to add fancy trim to it, you could either add a few 3d elements in your drawing to existing window, or you can save an entire 3d model as a custom library part for the window.

I allways try to get as close as possible with the standard library, before resorting to custom parts. Any adjustments made to custom objects take extra time.

There are 3rd party solutions to make custom doors and windows, but I have no experience with those.

If it is assymetrical:
Historical sliding windows in NL typically are assymetrical (the sliding bottom is bigger than the top). I generally 'fake' these by getting a window with upper part and making the sash that is inbetween as close to zero as I can. See below for a recent example that I'm working on.

Thanks very much; you are the first person I have communicated with as I have only just joined the forum.
Just for interest; are you using the BIM aspects of archicad19 with all the relevant file structure and layer standards etc or have you customised everything over time?
We are using an office template based on the dutch subscription template. Layers follow the NL-SfB system, which I assume most architect offices in NL would use.

We do have a large collection of extra libraries accumulated over the years, but rarely use more than a few of those for projects.

As for BIM, it really depends on the client and following that the contractor and subcontractors. For small scale residential projects there is not a whole lot of BIM going on in our projects. The whole model is 3D of course and anything noticable to about 1:50 scale (which is the scale we generally use for documentation for the construction phase) generally is 3D. 1:5 and 1:10 details are completely 2d and the occasional 1:20 worksheet could be a mix of both. But BIM in the sense of getting building information out of the model, it's rare for us on the small scale residential projects.
