topic Dragging 2D Symbol to script in AC19 in Libraries & objects

<T>Hi,
I'm just attempting my first GDL object in ArchiCAD 19.

In previous versions, we could create 2D fills and lines in the GDL object's 2D Symbol window, then drag the elements to the '2D' script dialogue, with it automatically converting the elements to the appropriate script. Very handy.

How can this be achieved in 19? The tabbed windows don't allow me to drag content between them, and I can't find a way of viewing two windows onscreen at the same time!

Really hoping this feature hasn't been removed...

Thanks,

Please add your operating system to your signature. Windows behaves differently than Mac.

If you're on a Mac (and not sure which of these options MS Windows may offer), you have two choices:

1. Window > Legacy Mode will eliminate all tabs and give you floating windows as in the past. Drag and drop works fine.

2. Window > Undock tab (name) lets you undock just the GDL window ... and open the floating windows, leaving other tabs in place. The undocked/floating 2D and Symbol windows allow drag and drop - although I did crash once when I dragged over an open background tab on the way to the 2D script window.

[Edit: Thanks, Erika. Beat me to it while I had this thread sitting on my desktop!]

Thanks.

I'm on a PC with Windows 7.

I'm probably being really stupid here, but I can't seem to undock them (I tried before I wrote my initial post of course).

Dragging the tab itself has no effect, and there doesn't seem to be an 'Undock' option undo Window in the title menu...

I seem to be able to change the order of the tabs, but I can't drag them free of the tab bar.

derekjackson:

Using the Standard Profile 19, the menu command is at Window > Undock (name of tab). If you imported your Work Environment from an earlier version, it is not there (new command: Dock/Undock Tab), so add it to your WE. It it also available by right-clicking the tab.
The Windows versions allows the same un-maximise as previous versions. In the top right corner (below the app controls) you can un-max the current window and rearrange. This can allow you drag/drop between windows on Windows.
Thanks, that's done it. I think they were separated, but maximised.
