Lights don't host to an element (unlike doors, windows and skylights). A separate hole needs to be cut.

<T>All;
I'm using a standard ACAD recessed can object for light fixtures. The problem is that if they are set at the correct height, they are not cutting a hole in the ceiling, hence don't show as lights during a render. When I move them down by 3", the render shows light, but now the fixture is sitting too low. What am I doing wrong that the light is not "cutting" a hole in the ceiling?

Thx,
Ha! Figured this one out myself....
Through SEO - ceiling slab as target, fixtures as operators, subtract w downward extrusion. But question still remains.. is it normal that objects like this don't automatically cut into the slab?

Doors and windows have a <WALLHOLE> element scripted into them to create the opening. I doubt that the light fittings have a similar function.
