<T>I'm working with someone remotely who uses Archicad 18. We just upgraded to 19. I need to embed doors and windows, they do not appear in his version when saving file out to Archicad 18 from 19.

Library Manager only seems to allow users to embed ALL placed objects. This comes with a performance warning. What is the best practice here? Is there a way to ONLY embed the doors and windows used and not ALL objects placed?

Or is there a better way to share the file from Archicad 19 to 18? Currently we are simply sharing the file via Dropbox and do not have time to learn/setup something like Teamwork. We don't need multiple users in the file at the same time for now, we just want to have our person working remotely to work on a few items here and there.

Appreciate your help!</T>

Archicad 18 can not use objects from Archicad 19.

When you save back your 19 file to version 18 I am not sure what happens with the library.
i.e. if you had the 19 library loaded and you save as 18 file then does it switch to the 18 library when you open it. maybe you will have to manually delete the 19 library and then load the 18 library.
Even if you do this I do not know if the 19 objects will automatically swap back to 18 objects - they might as they do swap if you go from 18 to 19.
I can't say for sure as I don't use the default libraries.
Maybe someone that does can comment further.

But definitely if you have to model in 19 you can still use (load) the 18 library and then you will not have any problems.
Or have your colleague upgrade to 19 as well.
OBERMEYER:

I would just use AC18 for this project, there is no advantage in using AC19 and saving back to AC18: any new features in AC19 will be removed when saving back to AC18.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
