You may also want to consider upgrading to the latest hotfix soon or better yet AC14 as many TW features have been improved, especially back-end stuff.

<T>I need to get into a backup copy of a BIM server project to extract some attribute information. How do I open a backup of a BIM server project? Surely it must be easy, I just can't figure it out.

I can find the files with the .backup extension on the server, do I open those somehow? It won't work with a normal File>Open.

I am using ArchiCAD 13, build 3235

Thanks.</T>

The TW Server is a database, it's no longer file based. That said you can't do anything with the .backup files explicitly like that. You need to use ArchiCAD's internal functions to access all TW related files.

In this case you need to use the BIM Server Manager to access the project on the server. Specifically you need to open it's Settings and under the Backups panel, use the Rollback feature to get into the required backup of the project. This will have the effect of making those .backup files available to join again I'd recommend using the 'Create New Project from Backup' option for this purpose and until you're more comfortable with it.

To transfer attributes between TW projects you'll need to save .aat files as you cannot open TW projects directly within Attribute Manager. Or you could copy/paste but you don't have nearly as much I'D control that way.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
So if I use the rollback feature, I overwrite the current version of the model, correct?
