Remote BIM Server / FTP Server

<T>I am a one-person firm; I outsource projects to architects / cad technicians on a per project basis.

I would like to utilize the ArchiCAD 14 BIM Server - Teamwork 2 function, but purchasing & setting up a secured in office server is currently cost prohibitive.

Can a remote FTP server be utilized for ArchiCAD 14 BIM Server - Teamwork 2 function? I want to eliminate having various versions of the same project with slightly different information.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You don't have to have a separate dedicated machine/server for TW2. You can install the server on the machine you typically work on. There have been discussions about this here on the forum, you should do a search on the TW2 posts.
Also, what are your machine(s) specs and OS?It's helpful to add this information to your Profile so it is there for all your answers. Click on the Profile button.

Gerald,

Check this out...
www.thebimexchange.com

As well as testing it on multiple project types and sizes, I've recently used the BIM eXchange to collaborate on a project with a fellow architect. It works well.

They also have upgraded their BIM Server to AC14 just recently, so both AC13 and AC14 users can use the service.

BTW - I am not only a user, I am also one of their BIM Server Administrators and technical resources.

Thanks David

The BIM eXchange - BIM Server is the solution I need. The price for multiple projects option is cost effective when compared to the cost to purchase, setup and maintain an in house server.
Gerald,
Yes The BIM eXchange has been in beta testing since Jan, 7 this year. We have hosted several projects for many users in different locations and have worked out the process. We have purposely waited until the final roll out and deployment of v14 to take it out of the beta test. v14 also provides a modular approach for different versions, superior monitoring and backup features which we needed to make the service viable.
Our servers are in first class data centers with redundant systems and we have worked closely with Graphisoft to develop the new service for ArchiCAD users anywhere in the world.
Affordable and accessible is our brand mantra for The BIM eXchange.
