On the machine you are running the installer on?
No, not installing it on default location. our reseller suggested we make a folder in the server that contains the "project data" and the "project library" so's not contain too many sub-sub-sub folder cause libraries can get lost in translation.....according to our reseller.

Should I be installing it in the default location?
is that the problem I may be having?
I know that when I physically typed in the project folder location, the BIM installer worked...up to a certain point. then it crapped out again when I tried to "START BIM SERVER" button with the red "X".

it didn't want to start the BIM server at all.....

I followed GS's recommendations where the software is installed in the default location on the machine that will host the server.

The project folder and the Library folders are the ones you choose were to put on the server.

I also switched to solo projects and TW2 projects using the same bimserver libraries so I only have to maintain one library folder. Granted, I have close to a gazillion libraries I've collected over the years
that's the thing? Does Graphisoft have a "HOTFIX" for the BIM server?
Can you relocate later where your "project data" files are saved to?
Also, can you relocate later after the install where the "Libraries" folder is held in the server?

I don't want to leave the install in the default folder.
Right now it's in the default folder and I want to move it.
Can I move both the "Project data" and the "Library" to another folder without having that darn beach ball come out and crashing my system?

Well folks...here's some food for knowledge.

in a MAC, when you leave a software off the CD "mounted" on the server, the BIM server software thinks it needs to search for information off that mounted copy (I have no idea what 'mounting it on the mac' means) but that's what i'm told.

The problem I was having was that the Archicad folder was still mounted to the server, whereas once we 'unmounted' (again, don't know what that means with respect to a windows PC operating function) but once we unmounted that portion of the archicad program, the server BIM server software worked well.

thanks all.
