Just a basic question:

Can I setup BIM server to run OSX and the clients XP? Would I run into problems? or will it run fine?

Yes.
I have mac & pc and have had no trouble mixing and matching os'.

Maybe on a similar topic:

Would a Mac Pro 8 core with about 16GB RAM, and a couple of Terrabytes HD be sufficient enough for a BIM server handling up to 30 users? (I'd say 15 max concurrently)?

I'm hunting for specs but not getting much help from Apple distributors channel...
