Thanks Dwight - that has got to be the answer.
Specific question for you if I may because I know you are familiar with Cinema 4D. C4D has global illumination - is there an equivalent in Archicad ? Also what is the best forum for C4D ?
I'm trying to export between Archicad and C4D but can't get files to open unless I use 3ds - any advice ?
Please ignore all this if your too busy.
Thanks
Without me being certain i am correct, you might place a camera in the scene with the desired target distance, activate that camera, and proceed to orbit from there.

Many users make 3D views without formally establishing a camera on the plan, but this is a sure fire way to control your initial view.

There are utilities to smooth transition of materials. Go search.

LightWorks COULD HAVE GLOBAL ILLUMINATION in Archicad, but they will not implement it.

The closest thing you can do is put in a sky object and some extra suns and boost your ambient levels and boost your ambient reflections in materials.

Sigh.

In fact, give up on LightWorks and just get Artlantis. I think that Artlantis 2, even though it is weak in the materials area has strong lighting solutions and has about a two day payback on the investment. Okay. For you, maybe three. I was worried about the file transfer issue but it works pretty good now as long as you have the presence of mind to remap Artlantis changes in Archicad before updating the model export.

Get the demo. Make your renderings a bit taller to allow for cutting the logo off the bottom and Alfonse is your Mother's cousin.

Hence the request for any Forum details.
Rob,
VRay is a very powerful render engine that is quicker and more sophisticated than the C4D Advance Render package. It has just been developed for C4D but has been the render engine of choice for Max, Maya etc and many other high-end 3D programs.
