topic Photorendering in ArchiCAD 8.1 in Visualization

<T>I am trying to get a decent 3d perspective image in ARchiCAD 8.1 but it doesn't matter what I do there are no reflections and it generally looks dark and crappy. I don't feel like messing around in photoshop with it again because it got a bit long winded and fiddly. I obviously don't have lightworks and I don't even know if artlantis is compatible with archicad 8.1.
Basically I just need some tips to create a half realistic-looking half decent photorender that won't require fudging in photoshop.
Ive added an attachment of my crappy render (with no background)
Any suggestions?

Cheers

Even though i don't see your attachment, it is going to be crappy without Photoshop. So give us a peek, eh?

Alas, there is not a button "Make a good rendering for me!" in AC. There is not such a button in any rendering application either. Though it would have been a nice feature!

Obviously, you are making the first steps in this field. It is not easy and it takes a lot of time to learn. So:

Read some books!
Read some Tutorials from the Internet!
Take a course in 3D visualization!
Attend lectures at the university regularly!

You do not expect forum members to teach you how to do it, do you? Here you can get help on some difficult issues and professional advice, but you must <S></S>know<E></E> what you are doing! This is not a school!

And Artlantis has been compatible with AC for as long as I can remember! You could check it yourself in 5 minutes!

And how do you suggest our colleague produce an artlantis-compatible file with
Archicad 8.1?

Save as ATL in the 3d Window?

AC8.1 had the artlantis export within it and AFAIK the new Artlantis open previous files. If all else fails saving as 3DS also works.

or did I miss something…

That's fine.

I wasn't certain that it could happen that way.

So if he gets the 30 day trial he is in the clear.
