Rendering with distant elements like this one do not benefit from the extra time Realistic Sun takes. Try a high ambient Ordinary Sun.

<T>Hello!

I have just made the switch to AC11 - la di da.. and I am in the process of producing renders from it for the first time.

I have noticed a slight graininess that is occurring but only in sections - please see attachment.

My settings are:
Method: Best
Effects: all on
Light Sources: All but Camera on (100%)
Shadow Casting: By Lamp Settings
Class: Sun Shader - Realistic

output to .tga at 300dpi
size: 1600 x 900

Light Sources:
Undersun and SkyObject

Sun Settings 80% 80% and contribution to ambient at 30%

This image has a lot wrong with it.. it is no where near finished..

Anyone know what is going wrong? Any advice and/or suggestion are appreciated as always.
Shadows: yes
number of samples: 128 samples
Diversion Angle: 5.0
i've noticed that graininess appear with the kind of low resolution shadows you have. if you're using the 'realistic sun' the number of samples needs to be quite high . . . which obviously results in a longer rendering time.

try setting the method to 'final'; anti-aliasing to the best (which can also be responsible for grain if it's anything lower but also greatly increases the rendering time); the number of samples to 256 (or even 512 if you've got a fast machine); and the diversion angle to 2º (we have sharp shadows in this part of the world )

you may have to wait some time . . . is that any good?
As long as this is not one brand dealership, try for different cars ... or some empty parking spaces?

Why not just change it to a Trabi - the One Car For All Needs?
Ben: Thank you for your suggestions - unfortunately I doubt I have a powerful-enough machine to try to execute the 512+ Samples - But will definitely note this for future projects when I do have a beefier computer.

Djorde: With the large volume of cars, this is unfortunately the only one that I can get to render (one of several cars that came with the Parking Object - the others would work too but aren't appropriate for this 'scene').. It is also 'brand-less' which is essential as it is a development proposal to be pitch to a variety of different companies.. I might try to find 3 different unidentifiable low polygon car objects though - thank you! (and if anyone has any suggestions/recommendations I would love to check them out as what I have is embarrassingly limited)

Dwight: I will render out with the Ordinary Sun Shader with High Ambience as suggested - which should speed up the render time considerably, so thank you and I will make a note note to bother with the Realistic Shader from large distances.. its about 9 hours per image on my machine with the Realistic Shader on so look forward to a speedier render time.

Thomas: Thank you for introducing me to such a cool car - which has now made me resent the car object I have used even more..

Thanks guys - I will let you know how I go!

I just had another look at the car collection and there are a few - Djorde: Thanks again for the suggestion of different cars..

Also Dwight -
You might just be Canada's funniest Architect after all - I crack up ever time I read this line.. I want a T-Shirt with this on it! You should totally pitch it to Apple!
