Looks great! Is it your design? Obviously no worries about solar heat gain in the summer

What sort of render times did these take?

I really like balance of lighting in both shots. Not too dark, not too bright. Does it take a lot of tweaking or does Artlantis get it mostly right first time?

The tree coverage is nicely composed too and blends the building into the scene well.

If I was to be ultra critical, the ground in the night shot looks slightly over-illuminated where you'd expect it to be in shadow. Also there is no shadow under the cars.

I'd be very pleased if it were my first attempt at a night shot

Your day shot is totally believable. The night shot seems to suffer from the ultramarine sky color. At this time of day, color drains rapidly from the sky.
Have a look at architectural images made just after what they call the "golden hour" when the horizon is still quite bright but the sky is turning dark. This moment in the day gives the feel of night with enough directional light to define the building.

Oh man! I like the day shot very realistic! As for the night shot....for your first...pretty good! and brave, I'd lessen the 'purple' on the night render (the cars seem to absorb a lot of it). I have a fear of doing night renders, probably because I haven't done one yet. Keep up the great work!

The day shot could be improved a couple of ways:
1) The perspective distortion is excessive, causing the building to look like its leaning.
Fair enough, but i liked the bland sky because it helps carry off the diffused sunlight and general bright cloudiness of the situation.

What? You mean the building isn't tapered at the top?

Since most of my work is offbeat, I rarely feel that i can offer an image useful to most members. I've been playing with the new Artlantis, especially the neon/glowing effects and boy, is this fun.

Here is a machine for grinding nature into money that uses Artlantis's glowing effects extensively.

Thanks for the comments Peter. The design is not mine but one of my bosses. He was wanting to get a vertical look. I have mentioned to my bosses that as much glass as they have been using on projects lately, that they must own some stock in a glass company

The render times were around 25 minutes. Mainly due to all the glass.
I have used Art enough now that I have a preset sun and sky setup that I start with. It usually take me 5-10 minutes of setup time. The tree line in the background is a billboard that I got from someone. It is a entire tree line and works great. It has saved me some much time putting together a tree line and also the rendering times are so much faster than having individual trees to make the same tree line.

We did just have some evening shots done for a project of hours. I will do as you said and take a look at how they turned out. I have recently started to look at architects website, at photos of their projects ,so I can study them.
I try to pick up on lighting and camera angle ideas.

Thanks for the ideas Richard. I do tend to distort my views of taller buildings.
I like it for some reason but I do tend to do it more than I should. I have never found sky backgrounds that I like. There is something about them that I do not like. Although the new Art 2.0 that I have been playing with has a sky feature that I love. You can change cloud types and even have multiple cloud types showing at the same time. The night shots even has stars that come out. Moving the sun from day to night in the preview window is too cool.

I have only played with Artlantis Studio 2.0 for around 30 minutes but just in that time I have seen it is really nice. I don't care for the price of the upgrade but it should still be worth it.
