Is there a way to make renderings with a wider angle to see more of the space?

Yes you can :

Change view cone : View > 3D View Mode > 3D Projection Settings

you can also make your image wider in the rendersettings. This way you get a panoramic kind of picture but you don't have the angular distortion on the sides of your picture
