I haven't used either of these, but they were recommended on lifehacker.com (usually pretty good with software tips):

Macromedia/Adobe Captivate: http://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/

Ambrosia: http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/
Hi Tom,

You might want to try Camtasia Studio by Techsmith. They put out a program called Snagit which I find very good and you can download a trial copy.

Cheers,

Snapz Pro from Ambrosia is the best one in my opinion
You are right about Windoz only.

I had done a quick check of the site and saw OSX in the download section but on rechecking found out it was just for a Codec not the programs.

It appears Adobe Captivate is Windows only as well <E>😞</E>

I must agree. Snapz Pro works pretty well. With H.264 compression, the files are even a manageable size.

The trick I have found out (Based on the Manual) is that when you finish recording the screen capture, the compression setting should be Animation to save the Movie from Snapz and then into Final Cut for Post.

I did something similar. I used those settings then used QuickTime Pro to compress it.

Knowing me, I'll be putting it in Final Cut soon enough and adding wipes, fades, special effects, and it will be "Archicad Takes Manhattan."
