I asume that you refer to the sawtooth soffit shadow???

What version of Archicad are you using?

IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD PRACTICE TO STATE YOUR SYSTEM WHEN ASKING A QUESTION BECAUSE THOSE OF US WHO ANSWER NEED TO KNOW THESE THINGS.

The panel you aren't sharing is the one with the Sun Shader found in the Photorendering Settings. If it is Archicad 10, and selected is the SUN:REALISTIC SUN shader, then you must double the samples.

yep that fixed it...sorry i had a few technical issues while posting the rest of the render settings...no need now...thanks

and yes...i am on AC10...i need to just put it in my signature like everyone else
