Welcome to the forum. We would always have a better picture of what you are doing if you upload an image of a screen shot, render, etc. I am not sure if I understand your question/problem.

<T>Hello,

I am currently working at an office in London. I am using Archicad, but the others here use mostly Autocad. I have managed to convert most of the files I need from dwg and into Cad files (thanks to tips from your forums).

I have a problem, though. I have imported some bars (for partition-walls) from dwg (block). They are ok in 2d, and 3d, but when I render them I cannot see anything but the top and the bottom of the bar. I am also not able to change the materials.

Does this make any sense?
I am not that familiar working with Autocad.. maybe it is an easy solution for my rendering problems here....

Thank you for helping!</T>

Parts don't transition easily between Auto and Archi no matter what they say.

Unless there is an easily accessible script for the element, this irregularity in the part is most easily fixed by adding something to fill in with an archicad element.

Thank you so much for replying, Im quite frustrated at the moment:-(

I've attached a pdf with screenshots from 3d mode and Lightworks rendering of the bar. The bar is drawn in Rhinoceros and saved in Autocad (3dmode) as a block. My colleuge thinks it might be the parts made with mesh that is missing? Does that make sense?

Since it is saved as ablock, I cant understand how some parts can just dissapear...

If you want I can send you the dwg file as well?

Thank you so much again.
Try to save the block as 3ds from AutoCAD (wblock, open the DWG so created, save as 3ds) and then import into Archicad. Should work ...

Yes, you are probably missing the meshes if created using solids.
