<T>Hi,
Just upgraded to AC 9 and have begun experimenting with Lightworks.
When i do renderings they look fine as they are rendering, colours are crisp etc, but just as it finishes all the colours wash out slightly, as if covered by fog, leaving the final render quite dull.

Dose anyone else have this problem, or even better an answer as to how to stop it?

And before you say it Dwight, the books getting ordered very soon......</T>

It is not easy to diagnose your problem but you can start with those:
1. Check if you don't have a fog in your foreground settings
2. Make sure the image brightness is at "normal" level

Those are the setting that i have already which is why i am a bit stuck.

I have attached a couple of screenshots of my settings to see if anyone can see something i cant.
I'll also attach a picture of the rendering in progress and when finished to try and show what i mean.

Thanks.

Ok, some things first:

1. If you're expecting the best from lightworks by setting everything "ON" and at "100%" than you might get dissapointed. If this would be so obvious than Dwight wouldn't have to write the book about it. In the mean time try this:
- turn off sun
- set ambience at 50%
- turn off camera light
- try to use combination of 2 skyobject + sunobject
2. If the model is huge and shadow's quality is not your priority (but time is ) than - no lamps, no camera light just internal sun.
3. Settings help you get the reasonable result in a reasonable amount of time, but you need to make choise what is more and what is less important in your presentation.

Hope this helps a little.

Cheers

You are of course right, setting everything to 100% isnt the way to achieve the best renderings - the settings i've shown above were me trying everything i could think of to try and get rid of that foggyness... but with no avail.

I'm still stuck as to why the image changes at the end of the rendering, any further thoughts?

-Check last radio button- paint overexposed surfaces with
-Change colour to pure white
-Click on apply button

rfoxley:

After checking the rendering in PhotoShop to compare the color values between the "in progress" and "finished" images, I found that many of the colors are the same. The ones that differ are the brightest surfaces (such as the vertical surfaces near the middle left), changing from 0%-1% to 5%-6%. I have this experience in my own work (the image "tones down" when the rendering is finished, a desirable result in my case). My guess is the "Overexposure Correction" setting in the "Brightness" panel is doing its job: "darkening overexposed surfaces". You could try changing the "Image Brightness" slider, or changing the "Reflectance" settings of the material.
