The Italian roof tiles are huge memory hogs! They are almost unusable no matter how much RAM you IMHO. Just try selecting one of the parts and viewing it in 3D.

Also, it will be a good idea to make sure you have no shadows in your 3D view and that you have unchecked the Shadow Casting parameter of the Italian Tiles.

Cheers,

<T>I am trying to apply Italian roof tiles. I can't seem to look at the roof in 3-d, like if I don't have enough memory. Archicad locks up and nothing happens, causing me to reboot. Has anyone had this problem? If so, can you please help me out.</T>

Are there any other add-ons or tools that can be substituted beside just a texture?

There's probably multiple options. I'd recommend trying CADImage:

I use a combination of a roof texture and the ridge tile object. It works well in 3d views as well as my elevation drawings. In section I add a custom line type.

Will the accessory tool from Cadimage render also or is it just a 3-d window aplication?

Oh it'll render too! Just ask them directly - they're vpretty good with sales inquiries!
