As a guy who has made more rendering mistakes than most ever will, the quickest way to terminate a rendering is to switch to the material settings with a keyboard shortcut.

ArchiCAD seems to interpret this as STOP RENDERING
faster than it does the STOP command..

<R>Now this may seem like a really dumb question but I have not found away to interrupt a rendering when I spot halfway through that there is a tree or more usually a toilet floating a metre off the ground.

I have tried clicking the Stop button on the little Photorendering progress window, nada. I've tried hitting the escape key again zilch and I have tried hitting Apple Full Stop (period) and again no go.

Is it me, my Mac the colour of the moon?
Its interesting that someone posted this. I was trying to create a rendering with my boss standing over my shoulder observing when he decided that there was something wrong. I tried to explain to him that ArchiCAD just wont stop. When it renders its like a car rolling down hill - its got so much momentum going that you just have to wait for a while until it slows to a stop. I've tried to repeatedly press stop or escape and ArchiCAD spites me by crashing.

I look at as a good excuse for a coffee break.

So, in actually responding to the question - no, I have no idea how to make it stop on command (although sometimes it will).

I've usually found hitting "Stop" to work, but it often takes several seconds to register.

Interesting to note the variability in computer performance. Some computers get quick response to appropriate commands, others, not so.

One thing I've since noticed is that it is easier to interrupt the rendering if I do it just after it has started. Trouble is though I am more likely to need to interrupt a rendering when more of the image is visible but ArchiCAD either doesn't respond or responds eventually.

I've still to try Dwights shortcut and see if that responds faster. Watch this space <E>🙂</E>
