Quick render

Hi all!
I have just begun using AC10 after upgrading from 8.1. I am unfamiliar with all the finesses of Lightworks rendering engine.
I wish to do some internal renderings of a very simple model that does not contain more than a slab, walls, roof and some furniture (that does not contain too many polygons).
I am using the lightworks sun, and have placed a skyobject, a weak sun lighting upwards, and window lights to get light indoors.
My biggest problem now is that it takes 5 minutes just to do one tiny little rendering even though i have low resolution, a small window, normal method and fastest antialiasing.
What more can I do to produce a quick render to check my lighting setting and materials, instead of one that takes 5 minutes?

about the LightWorks DVD tutorial and he wrote "Renders like this one are generated in less than 5 minutes by LightWorks, which gives you plenty of time to adjust your settings and refine your design, without having to switch to an external application".
I wish to get the DVD but until then, I want to be able to do exactly that....how?

As the author of "LightWorks in Archicad," I don't believe him either. Perhaps buying the DVD will provide the answer, but you can get high quality rendering information in my book at much less cost. And I freely share my information on the forum.

You problem is that Window Lights do not actually light the indoors - they just make a glow on the ceiling. They will be your time eater.

The window light is a dangerous light source because as you increase size and quality of its output, the number of individual light sources contained within it grow. You can anticipate this using an isometric preview in the lamp object window.

Use a general light source or a light cone down to illuminate the interior. Like in my book.

Quick renderings - use a tiny window.

Thanks for the tip Dwight,

I am recommending that my office purchase your book (and the DVD). In the meantime, could you please recommend which settings for either the general light source or light cone I should use so my source is not too strong so it is obvious, but the interior is well lit.

How long is a piece of string?

Moderation is the key.

Place a light cone down at the ceiling height, make it the size of the room and have the light rays fairly parallel - see the cone shape in the preview for a hint - a power of fifty is a good place to start.
