topic general transparent background question in Visualization

<T>dear all,

i am having some trouble editing images with transparent backgrounds. i have some images of plants that i'd like to turn into sketch style images to import into some elevations.

the problem is that when i open the images in any program (paint or cad), they appear with a dark background. it's only when i print that the background becomes invisible. i need to be able to have the background set to transparent whilst i edit them and then be able to save so that the background remains invisible.

any help would be appreciated as always. also, pls make any explanantions very simple as i have little experience using paint programs (btw, i use corel photopaint - no laughing please...)

thanks</T>
