Is the roof made with the mesh tool? Perhaps there is an a problem with it that is preventing it from modeling properly (like a self-crossing edge). Check to see if it is solid in section.

No the roof is done with the roof tool; there is some slab (for soffit and fascia) that overlaps with the roof, could overlapping cause this maybe?

It could be the overlapping. Elements that overlap cancel each other (creating apparent voids) in 3D so it would make sense. I'm always pretty fussy about having no overlaps so I haven't run into it myself.

Different project, same problem. I’m using AC 10 default template settings for the materials, can’t always reproduce the problem so not sure when it happens. Anyone else encounter something like this

(please no comments about the design!! hopefully we'll find a way to convince them to change things)

A way tomake it more interesting could be to go the other way and create a roof that matches the shadow

Of the light sources in the scene, are any of the shadow resolutions= 0.

You see boxy shadows when shadow resolution is lower than rendered pixel resolution.

I'm not using any extra light source, just built in Sun ( at 100 in the photorendering settings & Ambient @ 100)

Changing the “Shadow casting” in the Photo Rendering Settings from “by lamp settings” to "Hard" seems to eliminate the problem.

PS Strangely if I uncheck the “Transparency” in the Effects, the problem is also eliminated but so are all the cast shadows!
I assumed that an advanced user like yourself would get your copy from GSCNE, but if not, we can supply you directly.

I think I might of downloaded something at the time (I only upgraded to 10 recently so it wouldn't have been very pressing then!) I didn’t receive anything in hard copy if that’s what you mean though. So in any case yes, if you could send me the supplement that would be great.
