Try to switch to internal engine before hit render. It looks to me that OpenGL is not fully integrated with core of AC. Do it especially when rendering with shadows ON.

<T>We are using archicad 8.1 with 2gig ram & 6800 card. Whenever we try to render sketch of something like froor framing, we start getting extra lines. seems to come from corner of windows etc & extend of a weird angles, as if pen forgot where it was going. Have tried using internal & open gl settings, but no difference. Any ideas</T>

The sketch renderer has done that from the day it was released. I've never figured out what causes that. It is greatly diminished in Archicad 9.

Does altering the view ever so slightly have any effect?

moving or rotating will cause lines to error in different places. Does not seem to be connected to any specific object or wall, but window grills do seem to be more problematic.
