TEXTURES

<T>I am working on a building for a client that wants a certain pattern on the roof. The pattern is acutally a texture that was already in Archicad's materials list. But the texture default to an orange color. I need the color to be brown. I have been able to edit this material to the right size and everything is perfectly in place, except the color. I have already made a copy of what i needed by going into Options>attributes> and then materials. Everything has pieced together perfectly except I cant get the color to change. I was able to change the color one time (unless my screen was playing tricks on my eyes.) I know that there is a way to draw or edit a texture and bring it into ArchiCad.

~Please help! I have a deadline of the 23rd!!!~</T>

You can edit the texture in Photoshop. All ArchiCAD users should own a photo editing tool (and "LightWorks in ArchiCAD") if they want to illustrate their work.

However, using the LightWorks material definition "Wrapped Filtered Image" as shown on page 96 of "LightWorks in ArchiCAD", you can assign a new color to the lighter values of the texture map image.

This is not as good as changing the image in Photoshop, but it is good in an emergency. Like this one.

There's probably a very simple answer to this...
I'm confused about how to go about getting the texture into Photoshop. The textures are all .tiffs, so it seems like i should be able to find them from photoshop, but they seem to only be accessible through the library.pln file. How can I get access to them?

Jackie:

One possibility: If the library containing the tiff files is an ArchiCAD .pla file type (for example the ArchiCAD Library 9.pla), you will need to extract the library from the .pla file to be able to open them in an application other than ArchiCAD. To do this, open the .pla file in ArchiCAD, and you will get a dialog box (Open Archive Project) with some options including: Extract elements to a folder. After selecting this option, ArchiCAD will create a folder with all the library parts, including the tiff files. You will be able to then open these files in another application.

Hope this helps.
Or go to the folder that has the new AC9 SE library.

You will notice that the textures, photos etc. extract to folders, already 'unpacked'. Only the door/window library parts are in the pla.
