I can see the models in Safari as long as I don't change to another tab which forces the window to refresh and restart the viewer.

The content is easy to view with my Windows 2000 machine running IE. The Mac falls short when using Safari, anyone using IE on a Mac?

Wait a minute, a reboot on the G5 fixed everything. Working fine now, must have been lacking some Java runtime app.

I don't have much documentation about it, sorry. It is one of the supported file exports from C4D.

Here is something I really enjoy seeing. Try out the WIREFUSION free demo, works for 30 days.

After just 15 minutes with the program I was able to import my ArchiCAD model, it will be just a matter of time and patience before I learn how to set up a scene in the program and export the results for all to see. Who knows I might not even look at a manual. My favorite programs are the ones that allow you to have success within 1 hr. without reading a manual.

Method that worked best so far was to export as 3ds from ArchiCAD and then import into Cinema4D and then export as VRML2. Going straight from ArchiCAD to VRML resulted in a 24MB file that did not work. The VRML export from C4D was only 8MB. WIREFUSION can reduce the size of the model way, way down. Like I said I will post all the facts as soon as I figure them out, but so far I really like what I see in the WIREFUSION program.

The Archicad model shown gives these stats when exported to WIREFUSION format for the web:

I spent another 30 minutes - O.K. maybe 45 min.

It was enjoyable and painless. The manual is great and I look forward to learning more about all the great features found in WIREFUSION.

this is very useful. i can just imagine the people on site checking what the building is meant to look like in 3d. brilliant to showcase your designs to potential clients.
the last version you put up seems too heavy. i cant use it.

What you see here is applied textures.

The ultimate trick would be to take an ArchiCAD model in C4D, render it with baked textures and then export that model into WireFusion. Here is an example of the old Baker Court model. I will come back to this and fix the coordinate system, but you can at least see the effect.

I have the Personal Edition of Wirefusion 3.2 ($99) and the WF-3D plugin ($299). They came free with 3D World magazine last year.

I came up with this test:

I agree it is a positive direction when you use this program. Your test is a good example of the basics. Would you want to post the source file and a small explaination Stefan?

Looking at the professional examples on their web site allows you to see that there is true potential. How did you translate the ArchiCAD model? I tried VRML output but that did not work directly from ArchiCAD.

It went through 3ds max (as usual). It was originally an ArchiCAD file, though.
The difficult part was connecting the sliders to an imagelist.

I enjoy this 3D presentation model. I will work to explore it further. I don't like the idea of using it for interiors. The only interior presentation method I care for would be fully rendered views. This presentation method does look nice for building exteriors and sectional perspectives.

Now I will take a step back into the Cinema4D model and apply textures, perhaps a little ground cover. I think WireFusion has a winner application here, great interface.

The VRML file is now down to 173 kb after the WireFusion compression, and the final presentation is 255 kb (including the player). Impressive when you think that the original VRML model from ArchiCAD was 12MB! Of course my ArchiCAD file for this project is 17MB.

Does anyone out there have any comments regarding download times and compatibility? DJ?

This would be a great way to showcase individual ArchiCAD objects on a web site such as Objects Online.

Stephan, are you using the version 4?

O.K. - to get to point B from point A you used the very expensive MAX and I used the somewhat pricey C4D. Both produce a good VRML2 file.
