Maximum site model dimensions?

Can a very large slab (meant to produce a view of the sea out into the horizon) (I am trying to avoid photoshopping the sea) result in the 3D window and renderings misbehaving? If that is the case, is there a maximum size for the model, or any other limit that results in the misbehavior?

Why not use a picture?

I once had a problem with this, but only when exporting it out, namely a circular slab that got heavily triangulated. But when I replaced it with a rectangular slab, the problem was gone.

If your model is too far away from the origin, you will get strange things happen with your renders. The only way to remedy this problem is to move the model closer to 0,0
