publishing jpeg

how can i create a high quality jpg directly from archicad. presently, i am publishing to plotmaker, and from plotmaker, i am publishing to photoshop as an eps file and then creating a jpg from that. if no one has any ideas on how to generate a clear jpg directly from archicad, does anyone have any ideas on how to cut down the number of steps/programs in my process?

can you publish from ac to a pdf file? photoshop can read pdf's directly - it would cut out going to pm as an intermediate step if the pdf quality is high enough.

i'm probably not much help on this. we usually set our photorender windows to the right dpi and use the sketch render engine. the resulting window is saved as jpg or tif and color/texture is added in photoshop

i am trying to publish some floor plans for a brochure. i tried to publish as pdf at 1200 dpi, but when i open it in photoshop, the lines are gray and flat, and some are missing.

Are you certain you need jpg images? A lot of publishing software will happily work directly with eps/ps/pdf files.

if it's floor plans you're after, definitely use plotmaker to do a sheet layout and control your pencolor/weight. Then print to pdf (or publish). Sounds like when you make the pdf in AC, it's printing your color lines as grayscale.

no i don't need jpegs in particular, but i do need some common format that many programs will open. also, i'm looking for a process without so many steps.

do you know of any vectorized drawings outputs read by any media browser or program that i can eventually use in photoshop?

common format that anybody can view: IMHO pdf is best - if they dont have acrobat reader on their machine, they need to get with the new century... plus all the adobe editing programs can read the format, and I wouldn't be surprised if coreldraw and others can too.

for vector base output, you've got to stick with eps, though I think pdf now understands vectors in their own right instead of rasterizing them. JPG's definitely are NOT vector files. Did printing pdfs from PM fix the gray lines problem you were having? How about EPS from PM? Color & lineweight ought to be controlled by the plotmaker interface - if that's not working, I don't know what's wrong.

We've had good success printing plans for brochures using pdf or eps. Let us know what you end up going with.

Perhaps your line weights are too fine? A hairline thickness at 1200 dpi would be very fine, and would be commonly rendered as light grey (or could even disappear. Try modifying the weights in your pen settings and see if you can improve the output.

You can make with AC psd.
That means directly Photoshop data.
That should be the best way

Hi,

how can i create a high quality jpg directly from archicad.

if U still want to make jpg's from plan view in higher dpi instead of using pdf format;

zoom in a lot! before saving as jpg.
You don't have to see everything in view to make sure it ends up on your jpg as long as the layers are visible.

Then use the Save As command or clone all plan views with the same zoom to be able to "batch" save jpg's
