I think, LW in AC 9 would be better than Artlantis, if one knows how LW can be used.

It is better to have 200hp in car all of which can be used than 400hp that causes a spin everytime you step on the gas pedal... granted, once you master the 400, you will be invincible... all depends on who you are trying to impress.. you or the viewer.

Nice images.. magical, especially the 3-legged couch

Wow, those a re really great looking; they almost rival the Maxwell render test images. I like the fact that they have integrated what looks like bump mapping and Depth of field effect (assuming it's not post-processed). I'm hoping that they'll also have displacement mapping, procedural textures and caustics in the final version.

If the radiosity is as fast as they claimed it will be, then I think they might have a winner on their hands there; they definitely will have MR licked, since low speed is its biggest drawback. Especially considering that Artlantis' already integrates well with ArchiCAD and given the Lightworks Engine lack of radiosity. I also hope Abvent also produce another in-ArchiCAD plugin version of this Artlantis version, like they had before with the Photorealist render plugin.

Can't wait for the final release; looks like the R and D team have really been working overtime on this version. Anyone know when the final release is expected?

The quality of these renderings is (finally) up to par with other rendering engine.

If this can be coupled with ease-of-use and fast results, then Art*lantis has lived up to it's reputation.

The LightWorks engine supports Radiosity. It's just the ArchiCAD plugin didn't license this module.

One thing though: a lot of these models are from elsewhere (e.g. Sponza Atrium & Sibenik Cathedral, as seen on cgtechniques and the Osmosis Studyhall) and none are credited!

Looks good. I'm still using AL 4 and will not upgrade until the textures/shaders are mapped properly. I don't care how good the lighting is if I cannot apply a texture to a roof and have it all drain downhill, if you know what I mean.

Anyone know if they have fixed this?

we receive the message 5/5 ...
For information, Abvent will rewrite the ATL ArchiCAD (*) export soon.
one of the goal is, of course, to get the texture orientation and scale properly.

....that look's very promising.
How does the it handle ArchiCAD models in terms of render times and Texture mapping and how do you feel about the interface?

Hi again,

about render time, this is a scene with 1000X700 pixels,

settings: high radiosity ( middle balance)

about 4.30 minutes,

texture mapping in art*lantis r is absolutely great, no limitations

the interface is user friendly in my opinion and it's very nice about design..

Easy there, Karl.
I was only asking him to post more test-render images as he keeps testing the software. I don't believe those are prohibited under NDAs as he never would have posted the one he did if they were. After all, how else is Abvent supposed to build ip anticipation and hype for their product?

I mean, just look at what test render releases has done for Maxwell renderer's alpha version sales and the anticipation for its final version release.

It's not like I was asking him to release the source code or anything and in any case, I'm sure he's well aware of the limitations, implications and consequences of violating his NDA; with all due respect to your humble opinion, of course. There's nothing he said about the renderer in his post that I wasn't already aware of from what other beta testers even at the abvent forum have said.
To wit; what he said about the interface was already talked about, to length I might add, by some of the Abvent developers themselves; so take it easy.
