<T>There's been talk about problems having the sky and sun objects, when linked to the sun attitude as set in the view camera, failing to update when the sun attitude is changed.

I have been advising people that to update these objects it is necessary to rebuild the 3D view and the plan view in order to see the update.

This is flawed advice. Just this morning, I am also experiencing the problem that a general rebuild doesn't update the objects and now post yet another solution:

I've got the sky and sun objects updating WHEN THEY ARE SELECTED IN THE PLAN and then the plan is rebuilt. That seems to work in all situations.

Well, if your sun and sky objects weren't updating, you WERE DOING SOMETHING WRONG!

You weren't selecting them for the rebuild. haha.

So much of what I do uses selections [that include the sunandskyobjek] that I never noticed the problem. sheesh.

don't you find it a pain in the proverbial to keep moving the sunandskyobjeks around with you all the time?

i'm hoping that they're actually an intermediate 'scissors and cellotape' solution for the real sun and sky. is there any reason why they have to be objects and not simply configurable in the PhotoRendering Settings>Effects/Light Sources tab? (where they should be!) and if not has anybody sent that through to GS as a request . . ?
its a hack.

Since the built-in sun has so few editable qualities, somebody scrambled to fix it.

My guess is that it will get fixed - making the sunadskythingy obsolete, but there needs to be a fundamental change to the GDL lighting calculation data.....

I held off on the book to see if there would be a fix, but no such luck - have about 20 pages just on sunandskyandgenerallight tricks to light scenes

For instance, here's pre-dawn

We are starting a twelve step group for people whose lives became unmanageable through their inability to cope with the flakey sun object.

It's not the first ArchiCOPE group, however. Like Tyler Durden and Marla Singer in "Fight Club," there would be an argument over what groups to go to:

"You can have Sun Objects Anonymous on Tuesdays, I get Can't Get A Particular Material Dialog To Come Up Even After I Shift-Click Its Parent Object Anonymous on Thursdays."

Today it is the marvels of masking.
