Movie file sizes

hey,
i've been getting into making fly-through movies in ArchiCAD and have made a few now. They are usually for client use and have to be of a decent quality/resolution.

The file sizes however are always massive and i cant even fit them on a CD.
Are there any tricks to reduce file sizes (apart from reducing image size/resolution) or compression software programmes that are good.
I've just got Artlantis but havent a clue how to use it yet, will it produce better results? I've also read a lot about Cinema4D on the forum, would this be a good option?

better but slow too slow render

try softwares wit MENTAL RAY or Vray like Softimage MAX or MAYA

What method are you using in your Compression Settings (accessed via the Set... button from the 'Create Fly Through' dialog).

I have found the Sorenson Video algorithm gives very good results, with small file sizes.

Also most users can get away with True Color - 24 Bit, as they don't need the extra channel, which will result in smaller file sizes.

Having said all that, I have created .mov files that needed to be burnt to DVD. Kinda sucks when you play them, because they tend to jump around at first. This is when you should consider converting them to DVD format!

I'm already using True Color-24 Bit compression on them. I've been burning the movies to dvds too.
How do you convert the movies to dvd format? is it in the create fly-through settings?

For all matters with Video Conversions & putting things on DVD/VCD/SVCD:

Try to at least render your movie into a series of images or into an AVI/Quicktime movie (even when it's huge). Do the conversion afterwards and not directly from ArchiCAD.

As I teach in my VIZ-classes: render once to the highest quality (which can take a long time and huge files) and do the conversion seperately. Render only once, convert as many times as you need: DVD, CD-R, web, Celphone, PDA, ...
