Before importing the jpegs into PM open them in Photshop to verify the dpi resolution. I have seen that even though you specify the resolution in Art it sometimes defaults to 72dpi. Also if you open them in Photoshop then you can see the size in inches of the image at a specific dpi setting, with that info you can then adjust the jpeg in PM.
BTW I am not fond of using jpegs for my images I normally use tiff without compression, it saves time and quality by not having either PM or ART having to compress and decompress the file.

<T>My Artlantis elevations (correctly set up for a given scale at a given dpi) are getting rescaled when importing the jpgs or Photoshop files into Plotmaker. I am 'rescaling' them in Plotmaker by changing their stated resolution in the drawings setting, which is something like 2/3 or 1/2 of their real value (the printout seems to reflect the real value) (but I am not sure what will happen when I send this to the printing bureau, which is absolutely scary with a deadline in a matter of hours).

Any idea about what the problem is, how to avoid it or deal with it, will leave me very grateful and very less panicked.</T>

Try printing a layout as a test.

If your service can accept PDF files then you can preview exactly what will print before you send it. I'm sorry to say I can't be so sure about plot files. They are not as reliable about printing bitmaps.

There is a plot viewer utility from Oce that can preview and process plot files for sending. If your service uses Oce they may be able to provide you with this (requires Windows or Virtual PC on a Mac).
