Actually, it isn't that Piranesi needs a perspective view, it is that the AC and Artlantis EPix export routines just weren't written to grab the depth info from a parallel view.&lt;BR /&gt;

I just tested Scott's  method (which was Djordje's and/or someone else's suggestion a long time ago for getting pseudo-parallel views in Artlantis prior to version 4.5) and it looked axon to me ... I went into perspective mode, clicked the "look to" button and clicked on a wall for the elevation that I wanted to get the camera square on.  Used the move button to center the building with the rectangle in the center of the 3D window, set the view cone to be 1 degree and walked back as far as it took to get the "elevation" to fill the 3D window.  Saved as EPix and worked fine in Pir.&lt;BR /&gt;

      <title>Traditional Elevations in Piranesi</title>

      <description>&lt;DIV class="actalk-migrated-content"&gt;&lt;R&gt;I just bought the piranesi software and have really begun to explore the tutorials.  Is there a way to create a traditional elevation view to use in piranesi?  The closest I have been able to acheive is to create a perspective view from REALLY far away, and zoom, but it still does not quite acheive the look of a traditional axon view&lt;BR /&gt;

You can also save a parallel projection (elevation) from Artlantis..&lt;BR /&gt;
AC --&amp;gt; AL --&amp;gt; PIR&lt;BR /&gt;

Besides Scotts work around, you could bring in any "Flat" Image file into Piranesi via. File/New choose "Create an EPix file from an image file" &lt;BR /&gt;

This allows you to make a rendering of an elevation and save it to say a TIF or PNG or Jpeg and open it in Piranesi.  Now, you don't get any Depth or Material information, but you can lock to colors and you can add some depth info, but not as nice as having the depth and material channel. It can work decent for site plans. See the tutorial "Painting 2D image"  &lt;BR /&gt;

Well ... the math definition of parallel views does not allow for depth calculations, if I remember correctly. So you do have to "fake" it if you want to do it in Piranesi. It is not really faking - if anything &lt;B&gt;IS&lt;/B&gt; faking, it is the elevation. That view does not exist in reality at all, and is a pure convention.&lt;BR /&gt;

Once upon a time, Art•Lantis also could not work on parallel views.</description>

 Actually Piranesi will work with Parallel views (plans, elevations, Axonometric etc). Other products generate these views and generate Epix files.&lt;BR /&gt;

I actually though that the plug-in at version 7.0 did this, but maybe my memory is not as it should be!&lt;BR /&gt;

You could always generate a greyscale elevational view of your model using Vedute. E</description>
